There were many things that went wrong in No. 3 Syracuse's 75-71 loss to Villanova Saturday morning, but fouls, free throws and missed lay-ups were the biggest flaws in the game.

In the Orange's second game in three days, No. 3 Syracuse came from behind to defeat Big East rival Cincinnati on Monday.

The Syracuse Orange took a bit of their own medicine Monday afternoon in yet another close one that was decided in the last minute of play.

No. 21/20 Cincinnati (16-4, 4-3 Big East) employed a zone defense of their own en route to a tension-filled afternoon that saw the No. 3/4 Orange (18-1, 6-0 Big East) down by two with a minute and a half to play. When the snow cleared, Syracuse scrapped away a 57-55 victory.

“I hate it when teams play zone [against us],” head coach Jim Boeheim said after the win.

Jim Boeheim keeps making history this season.

With No. 7 Syracuse (13-1, 1-0 Big East) defeating Rutgers (9-3, 0-1 Big East) 78-53 Wednesday night at the Carrier Dome, Boeheim sits only behind current Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski on the all-time Div. 1 wins list. Boeheim, who was tied with Bobby Knight, won game number 903 to take sole possession of second place.

Tuesday's victory also make the first game of Big East play for the Orange, and the continuation of longest, active home-court winning streak at 33 games....

In the "Battle of the Midway," the Orange basketball team, driven by C.J. Fair and Brandon Triche, stifled the the Aztecs in the first game of the season.

It wasn't asthetically pleasing, but the Orange will gladly take the 62-49 win over San Diego State on Sunday afternoon. After being moved from Friday afternoon due to inclement weather, playing on the USS Midway was an experience that all the players and coaches cherished. Here are three of my thoughts on the outcome of the game:

The outside conditions clearly had an effect on the game...

Three thoughts from SU vs. Ohio State

The quest to New Orleans for a National Championship is over for the Syracuse Orange after a 77-70 loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Early foul trouble forced SU out of its typical rotations and the Buckeyes made them pay by getting to the free throw line. Brandon Triche led the Orange with 15 points but the Syracuse offense was unable to get into a rhythm without contributions from Dion Waiters, who faced foul trouble.
