Syracuse participated in the national campaign Tuesday night, which was co-hosted by 73 different campus groups.

Students and faculty crowded in Hendricks Chapel Tuesday night to participate in Syracuse’s annual Take Back the Night event, which raises awareness about domestic and sexual violence.

The event, which began at 7 p.m., featured speeches, a rally and a march that culminated at the speak-out in Hendricks Chapel, where community members came together to participate in group dialogue about violence and how Syracuse University can work together to eliminate this issue.

Two Clarkson University students hike all 46 Adirondack High Peaks to raise awareness for suicide prevention.

Kolby Ziemendorf, a mechanical engineering alumnus from Clarkson University, lost his high school classmate Greg Lombardo to depression and suicide in 2010. Rattled by this tragic incident, Ziemendorf, 22, struggled to find answers.

While sitting in church one day, an idea came to him: a way to honor Lombardo’s life. He would climb 46 peaks of the Adirondack Mountains in seven days to help raise awareness on this sensitive issue.

SU students show their (lack of) knowledge about environmental issues.

Imagine Syracuse University 50 years from now, under 10 feet of water — waves sloshing up the sides of the Carrier Dome, desk chairs and tables rushing past E.S. Bird Library, students backstroking down Marshall Street.  It’s a nightmarishly wet future for SU. But one that will become increasingly real if unmitigated global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions continue to rise over the next half century, bringing the planet closer and closer to the point of irreversible change.
