Illustrator-musician Evan Bujold is 'a different kind of performer'

In a black, cross-hatched world where red-headed, librarian-archers guard ancient temples and villainous creatures have elongated beaks, a boy emerges as the keeper of sanity: Attaboy!

Evan Bujold is the creator of the character Attaboy, who appears in his illustrated comic “Late Earth.” Inspired by egoism and the cultural apocalypse, "Late Earth" unfolds Bujold’s view of mainstream media as a socially-constructed device, he explained.

Organizations foster talents of local artists, SU students

Light Work and Point of Contact are just two local galleries that support artists in visual art and poetry.

There are seven Syracuse University-affiliated art galleries in the Syracuse area alone. Among the longest running arts institutions are Light Work and Point of Contact, Inc., which have been running for more than 40 years each. Within a walking distance, students and residents can not only access art but also participate in their different events.

Explore the creative efforts aimed at keeping the local arts community thriving.

If the following profiles on artists, galleries and collectors are any indication, the Syracuse-area art scene has support and is quite alive in many respects.

Several participate in Third Thursday, a free event that involves two dozen Syracuse galleries and museums on the third Thursday of every month. The next event is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. on April 15.
