Syracuse beat the odds just to play its second No. 1 seed in as many games, but North Carolina's 11-point halftime lead was insurmountable.

Except for a few minutes in the second half Saturday night, Syracuse was unable to stop the high-powered North Carolina offense that ended the Orange's surprise championship run one game short as they fell 83-66.

Despite coming up one game shy, head coach Jim Boeheim said he was just as proud of this team as the 2003 Championship team.

“I’m more satisfied than I’ve ever been in any year that I’ve coached, with the possible exception the year we won it all,” he said.

Albany was able to hang around for some time, but Syracuse "got comfortable" in the second half, Orange head coach John Desko said.

The Syracuse Orange men's lacrosse team beat the Albany Great Danes, 16-7, Sunday afternoon in the Carrier Dome. The Orange (2-0) pulled away in the second half after heading into halftime with just a three-goal lead. Freshman Matt Lane scored two goals, alongside five other contributors, in a first half that saw Syracuse out-shoot Albany 38-9.

The Orange scored at least four goals in each quarter and won by a final score of 18-5 in the Carrier Dome.

It took less than two minutes for the Syracuse Orange (1-0) to score its first goal of the season, and it came from none other than redshirt senior attack Dylan Donahue, who had four goals and a career-high five assists in the tilt, totaling nine points.

Syracuse's explosive 23-1 run starting two minutes into the first half allowed them to coast to a dominant victory.

The No. 25 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (14-6) scored the first five points of the game while keeping the Syracuse Orange (14-8) off the board for the first two minutes and twenty-four seconds. Soon after, however, Syracuse became almost unstoppable, going on a 23-1 run that didn’t see the Fighting Irish score a field goal for four minutes and 51 seconds. Syracuse maintained at least a double-digit lead from then on en route to a dominating 81-66 victory.

Interim head coach Mike Hopkins won his first game at the helm.

The Syracuse Orange (7-2) have now won 50 straight games against the Colgate Raiders (2-6). The Raiders haven’t beaten Syracuse since Feb. 24, 1962, by a score of 67-63 in the Manley Field House. John F. Kennedy was the President of the United States and interim head coach Mike Hopkins hadn’t been born yet.

The Orange look determined to continue its winning ways after defeating a strong opponent in Seattle, 3-1, on Sunday.

It's been an incredible season for Orange athletics. Just a few weeks ago, the Syracuse field hockey and cross country teams won national championships. Now, the men's soccer team has punched its first-ever ticket to the Elite Eight. It's not a national championship, yet, but the team is only three wins away- which to expect wouldn't be too outlandish.

In what almost seemed scripted, Orange give victorious send off to its beloved leader.

Hardnosed, tough-minded and gutsy. These superlatives often have open-ended definitions, and are cliché terms in the world of sports. How one term differentiates from another is challenging for even the most skilled of linguists.

Syracuse men's soccer head coach Ian McIntyre is thrilled to spend and celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with his team, while awaiting this Sunday's third round matchup against Seattle. The Redhawks are tied for the most wins in the NCAA with 18.

The Bonnies held the lead for most of the game, but strong second-half play from Syracuse overcame the deficit.

The announced Carrier Dome attendance had quite a few St. Bonaventure (1-1) fans in the stands out of the 21,379 people that came to see the matchup. They were loud, visible, and pestering Orange fans throughout the game. However, Syracuse (2-0) had the last cheer as the Orange overcame a 32-21 deficit to topple St. Bonaventure 79-66.

The Orange gave the top-ranked Clemson Tigers its best shot, but in the end it wasn’t enough.

The Syracuse football team delivered one of its best performances of the season. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to defeat a superior opponent, as the No. 1 Clemson Tigers (10-0, 7-0), came out on top, 37-27.
