As veganism becomes more prevalent on the Syracuse University campus, Strong Hearts Cafe and Café Kubal offer carefully crafted menu items without any animal products.

Interviews with students and local merchants indicate that a new nutritional trend — going vegan — is taking hold at Syracuse University. Featuring fresh and healthier foods without any kind of animal byproducts, veganism is now a behavior that many students embrace. As a result, several cafes close to campus are now including vegan items their menus.

The fair brought food trucks, zip lines and live entertainment to Forman Park in celebration of the launch of phase two of the Connective Corridor revitalization project.

The “Zip Fest” Street Fair was bustling in Syracuse’s Forman Park Sunday in honor of the launch of phase two of the Connective Corridor project. The four-hour block party had a mobile zip line, five food trucks, a massage station and live entertainment, and provided fun attractions for visitors of all ages.

Sophomore Kanisha Ffriend promotes Czari, a clothing line created by her childhood friend, as a style for students with an "emperor or empress state of mind."

“It invites you to be bold when you wear it. It’s a very simple yet versatile top but it wants you to put more of your attitude and style into it,” said Kanisha Ffriend, a sophomore health and exercise science major and campus representative for the student-owned clothing line Czari.

Fayetteville's Nina Davuluri's completes her pageant journey to become the first Indian-American Miss America.

Some view the Miss America organization as homogenous, but Nina Davuluri combats that image.

Fayetteville native Davuluri was crowned Miss New York in July and won the Miss America title Sunday evening. She was the first Indian-American woman to represent New York at Miss America and is now the first Indian-American woman to wear the Miss American crown.

Kevin Czebiniak hopes his Westcott Brewing Company will appeal to younger drinker demographic.

For Kevin Czebiniak, brewing beer is more than a hobby; it’s his career.

The 24-year-old Camillus native got the idea to open his own brewery while sitting in the pub at Le Moyne College with friends from the school’s Entrepreneurship Club.

“I always wanted to homebrew when I retired,” said Czebiniak about his decision to open his own brewery. He is still working to complete a dual bachelors degree in information systems and management and leadership.
