Common chats and raps about his philosophy and personal life at a crowded Hendrick's Chapel.

Common free-styled his way into the room, and into the hearts of Syracuse University students Tuesday night at Hendricks Chapel with a motivational speech and impromptu raps.

Common asked a member of the audience to choose any word for him to freestyle about. He began a freestyle rap stemming from the word “heaven,” and it somehow evolved to include Otto, Jim Boeheim, Wes Johnson, Acropolis, Marshall Street, and ‘Melo.

Alex Steffen, editor and co-founder of WorldChanging.com, encourages college to take charge in the green movement.

Alex Steffen thinks we're doing almost everything wrong when it comes to sustainability.

The editor and cofounder of WorldChanging.com suggests we need to think big to handle a big problem. Driving less and eating less beef are important choices, but they only represent a fraction of what we can do to enact major changes to the system.

When Pat Manley made a giant cutout of Syracuse Basketball coach Jim Boeheim's head, he wasn't planning to start a phenomenon.

All his life, Pat Manley heard the criticisms of the Syracuse student section at the Carrier Dome. It was always too quiet, too boring. That it lacked the creativity of other, better student sections around the Big East.

It is a perception Manley, a current SU graduate student majoring in political science, set out to change. So when the opportunity arose to do something about it, he made sure to take advantage.

Local drag queen Nikki Fenmore and drag kings, Windz and Miles Long, visit SU to discuss "The Art of Drag."

Her golden-blonde hair rests on the collar of her black sweater, and her soft side bangs brush the thin, silver frame of her glasses. She smiles. Her lips are full and painted a deep, dusty-rose shade of pink. She sits, hands folded together with a shiny gold band on each ring finger, waiting for the others to arrive.

He is shamelessly opinionated with a teenage curiosity and lewd lingo that make great stories.

Rogue travel writer Chuck Thompson visited Syracuse University yesterday while touring for his latest book, "To Hellholes and Back: Bribes, Lies and the Art of Extreme Tourism."

SU sophomore Alicia Aiello only grew stronger after being diagnosed with a disease that attacked her intestines and colon.

It was summertime. I was 14 years old, and my life was about to change forever.

Instead of doing normal summertime things, like riding a bike or going swimming, I had crippling stomach pains. After a week, the first blast of pain subsided, only to come back with a vengeance.

I stopped eating — anything I ate increased the pain — and lost 10 pounds. My mom took me to my doctor, who said I was infected with Giardia Iamblia, a germ often found in public pools. That was wrong.

Commentary: An aspiring superstar breaks down his year in Syracuse.

This marks the second year I’ve made a music video recapping the events and adventures that occurred in the past 365 days.

This year wasn’t as exciting as my 2008, but there were still enough good times to sing ... I mean ... rap about.

Once the workingman's uniform, fashion and flexibility now make jeans a wardrobe unifier for students and society alike.

Neatly folded piles of jeans blanket the floor of a small walk in closet. Meet Joe Cubiotti: a senior at Syracuse University who loves jeans. He currently owns about 70 pairs, he said.

“Freshman year, everybody used to make fun of me,” said Cubiotti, a 20-year-old policy studies and management major. His friends teased him about his extensive jean collection that filled his closet and extra storage containers under the bed.
