Comedian Kevin Hart to perform at Goldstein Auditorium

The frenetic actor and comic, known for his starring roles in 'Ride Along' and 'About Last Night,' will visit SU on Nov. 2 for a stand-up set and a Q-and-A/film screening.

Kevin Hart -- the manic, hyperactive comedian who graduated from hilarious bit player in Judd Apatow films to become a Hollywood-ready leading man -- will perform at Goldstein Auditorium on Nov. 2, University Union announced tonight.

National News Engagement Day creates a buzz about media

Students speak out in open discussion, offer thoughts on viral video

More than 100 students joined Friday's forum on the issues of race and identity at Syracuse University.

Taryne Chatman admitted he sometimes has trouble saying exactly what he wants to say. But when he tried to come to terms with the hate speech heard in a viral video circulating across campus, he was left speechless. That is -- until he turned his thoughts into poetry.

"I mean you know it's spelled. Starts with an 'N' ends with 'er.' Man-made manifestations that remind us, that our history ain't too far," Chatman recited.

Chancellor Kent Syrverud announced in an email that a community forum will address the offensive Instagram video that has been circulating this weekend.

Syracuse University’s administration is now planning a community forum in response to the Instagram video featuring Syracuse University soccer player Hanna Strong.  

The video, which has been circulating through news outlets and social media this weekend, catalyzed a strong and rapid reaction on campus after it was posted on Saturday. In the video, Strong, who is a senior midfielder on the women’s soccer team, shouts racial and homophobic slurs.

The restaurant was especially popular for its breakfast menu, but offered a variety of foods such as pizza, sandwiches and spaghetti.

SU named nation's No. 1 party school

Official says school doesn't aspire to top this category in Princeton Review's annual rankings.

Syracuse University has earned a title as the nation's best, and it's not for basketball or academics.

The Princeton Review announced SU leads its annual rankings of top party schools Monday based on a survey of 130,000 students nationwide.  Students responded to questions about drug- and alcohol-use at their school; the amount of out-of-class study time; and the number of students who belong to fraternities and sororities, according to the organization’s website.

SU sophomore dies in New Jersey car crash

Miles Reme was riding with classmates from Fort Lee High where he was a scholastic baseball player.

Arts and sciences sophomore Miles Reme died Thursday in a New Jersey car crash.

Reme, 20, was riding in a 2014 Honda Civic with two former Fort Lee High School classmates when the driver swerved off the road and struck a building in Ridgefield, N.J., according to NorthJersey.com.

Bear vs. Deer: Syracuse pronunciation saga continues

About 3,000 people have suggested how SU Chancellor Kent Syverud should say the city and school's name, but there is no clear winner yet.

Syracuse University’s new chancellor is still on his quest for the correct pronunciation of “Syracuse.” 

Kent Syverud said that he’s heard from about 3,000 people in recent weeks since posing the question whether the “Syr-“ in Syracuse is properly enunciated to rhyme with either “bear” or “deer.”  In an email to students and faculty Thursday, Syverud said the results are too close to declare an official pronunciation.

Chancellor Syverud outlines changes for future

In a five-page memorandum sent to students and faculty Monday morning, Syverud discussed promotions and tenure, funding community projects and university leadership, among other things.

In the latest of Chancellor Kent Syverud’s emails to Syracuse University students and faculty, the chancellor laid out a series of changes to affect the university in the coming school year and beyond.

“I have taken some time to think about and assess some key areas of focus,” Syverud wrote in the body of the email after noting that Tuesday marks his four-month anniversary as SU Chancellor, “and want to share with you a number of changes that are being made, some new initiatives underway, and other information I think you should know.”
