Chicago hip-hop artist Chance the Rapper and DJ/producer duo The Chainsmokers will be performing at Block Party 2016, University Union announced in a press release Sunday night. The concert, which will be opened by alternative artist Jon Bellion, takes place on April 29.

Raury, singer/rapper/guitarist/songwriter will bring his alternative mix to Schine Underground at University Union’s second show in the Bandersnatch Concert Series on Nov. 4. Special guest Demo Taped is set to open.
Raury, known for his incorporation of soul, hip-hop, and folk released his first studio album All We Need this month. After his first mixtape, Indigo Child caught the attention of EVERYONE…he signed with Columbia Records. If you don’t at least know this song…you should.

The NewsHouse: You guys formed out of the band Gentlemen Hall. Is Tribe Society a reimagining of it, or are you focusing on more of a different style?
Brad: This is a big turning point for Gentlemen Hall. We used to have another singer, but he left, and then we moved to New York, and just kind of started over, started fresh. It’s a little different in sound because we’re always exploring and stuff, so it kind of became its own thing with the five of us instead of the six people in Gentlemen Hall.

University Union’s Bandersnatch Concert Series released its first show of the season, X Ambassadors with special guest Tribe Society on Oct. 7. For those of you who don’t know what the Bandersnatch Concert Series is, come out from beneath your rock and embrace what UU calls its “indie concert series.”
The Weeknd is not slated for University Union's Sept. 13 music fest as a music website posted erroneous tour dates.

Now that University Union has made its official Juice Jam 2015 lineup announcement with Big Sean as headliner, The NewsHouse reviewed its original reporting about The Weeknd as a potential act.
University Union will host its annual Mayfest event on April 24, 2015 in Walnut Park from 1-6 p.m.
University Union announced this year’s line up for Mayfest, which will feature electro-pop duo The Knocks as headliners with rapper Skizzy Mars as direct support, and pop artist VÉRITÉ as the opener.
