Former Orange head coach Shafer returns to the Carrier Dome September 9; SU will face Clemson on October 13

The ACC released its college football schedule for the upcoming season on Tuesday, officially finalizing Syracuse’s 2017 slate of games.

Four of the Orange’s opponents next season have won a national championship within the past 11 years: LSU, Clemson, Miami, and Florida State. Clemson is fresh off its national championship win a season ago.

Red Storm hits 12 3-pointers, shoots 53.1 percent from the field in 93-60 victory over SU

The Syracuse Orange basketball team looked as if it had finally found a rhythm early in the second half against St. John’s on Wednesday night. 

SU (7-5) had been trailing the Red Storm since the 11-minute mark of the opening period and was struggling on both ends of the floor. But, the Orange cut its deficit to just 10 in the eight minutes following halftime and seemed poised for a run.

Badgers shoot 49.2 percent from the field to top SU, 77-60, in ACC/BIG 10 Challenge

Down in Death Valley, the Syracuse football team faced injuries, broken records and a shutout from the No. 3 Clemson Tigers, falling 54-0.

Clemson came out rocking with a packed house for the Tigers’ Purple Out and Military Appreciation Day. While the Orange failed to score, one wide receiver set records for the Syracuse football program.

SU scores four first half goals as Orange cruises to 5-1 win over Blue Devils.

No. 2 Duke surrendered eight penalty corners to No. 4 Syracuse field hockey in the first half on Friday at J.S. Coyne Stadium. The SU corners led to four unanswered goals in a span of 17 minutes as the Orange pulled away for a 5-1 victory.

Overall, the Blue Devils (10-2, 3-2 ACC) relinquished 10 penalty corners, five of which ended up as goals against. 

Syracuse (11-1, 4-1 ACC) was relentless in the first 35 minutes, dominating play and possession. It managed 11 shots, while Duke managed only two.

After advancing to the 2016 NCAA title game, SU holds first practice of season on Sunday.

The Syracuse women’s basketball team finished 2015-16 with a 23-6 record and, against many expectations, advanced to the program’s first national championship game.

Although they ultimately fell to the dominant University of Connecticut, Syracuse gained the attention of the NCAA and fans as a force to be reckoned with for this upcoming season.

Star wide receiver ranks third nationally in receiving yards, added to Biletnikoff Award Watch List

Amba Etta-Tawo burst onto the scene for the Syracuse football team. Now, the redshirt senior is receiving national attention.

Etta-Tawo, a transfer from Maryland, was added to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List on Wednesday. The Biletnikoff Award is given annually to the nation’s top collegiate receiver, regardless of position.

Conference is third major organization to shift neutral site sporting events out of the state

More neutral site sporting events were pulled out of North Carolina on Wednesday afternoon.

The ACC announced that all eight neutral site conference championship games scheduled to be hosted in the state of North Carolina during the 2016-17 academic year will be relocated.

The most notable championship that will be moved is the conference’s football finale, which was set to be hosted in Charlotte.
