Zedd, 2 Chainz to headline Block Party 2014

University Union revealed the performers for year-end Carrier Dome concert Sunday night.

You’ll want to stay the night after this year’s Mayfest.

Zedd and 2 Chainz are set to perform at this year’s Block Party, UU announced Sunday evening via Twitter. The announcement crashed the UU website momentarily as word spread on social networks.

Zedd is a Russian-German electronic music producer and DJ, known for his Grammy Award-winning hit single “Clarity.” He recently released “Stay the Night,” a collaboration featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore.

Joining Zedd at the Dome on April 25 is American hip-hop recording artist 2 Chainz. Originally from College Park, Ga., 2 Chainz released his most recent album, B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time last September, which features singles “Feds Watching,” “Where U Been?” and “Used 2.” His first studio album was Based on a T.R.U. Story.

2 Chainz was last at SU in April 2012, when he performed at Goldstein Auditorium for Fashion's Conscience’s “A Night At The Museum” fashion show.

Brazzabelle, an LA-based house music DJ and mixer, will also perform.

The semester-ending show on the final Friday of classes will be at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for SU and ESF students and $30 for the general public. Ticketmaster's student-only presale will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 24. Students can purchase up to four tickets.

The general public can purchase tickets starting Friday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m. at the Carrier Dome box office or through ticketmaster.

Block Party is the second phase of UU’s annual end-to-the-school-year activities. It follows Mayfest, an event held at Walnut Park featuring food, fun and short performances from lesser-known artists.
