Friday night is going to be loud and bright at the Westcott Theater.
The Turnt Up Tour, featuring a showcase of rising DJs, comes to Syracuse for a high-energy evening of electronica and dub step. The 15-city tour spans the northeast and midwest, arriving at Westcott Theater Friday, September 23.
Headlining the Turnt Up Tour is the DJ Paper Diamond, who last played in Syracuse at an after-party for electro-sensation Pretty Lights in May 2011.
"Words can't even describe how wild the Turnt Up Tour is about to be," he said.
Alex B, a Denver producer and part of the Pretty Lights Music label started spinning under the Paper Diamond name last year. His music is a blend of driving beats and spacey synthesizers. He released his debut album Levitate in January 2011 on the PLM label and offers it for free on the label's website.
Michal Menert, another member of Pretty Lights Music, and Boulder, Co. natives Sorry for Partying will join Paper Diamond. Menert has previously opened for artists such as Shpongle, Pretty Lights and RJD2 and has produced a number of Pretty Lights' albums.
Sorry for Partying is a DJ trio embarking on their first tour. Their name alone suggests all we need to know about them.
"We’ve got a crazy new live set we’ve been working on," the group said in a release on their website. "Can’t wait to see all of you!!"
The show starts at 9 p.m. Friday September 23. Doors open at 8. Tickets for the event can be purchased at www.thewestcotttheater.com.
