Favorite Syracuse diner closes

Doc's Little Gem Diner, a favorite for students and people throughout Syracuse, closed its doors Wednesday after struggling to climb out of bankruptcy.

The owner Francis "Doc" Good said he needed to expand the space in order to keep the restaurant afloat with the business of more customers, according to Syracuse.com.  Good said the smoking ban and tough economic times also kept customers away.

Good, 76, said he now needs to find work along with the 16 employees he had to lay off.
