Block Party tickets accidentally shipped to students' home addresses

Update at 10:10 a.m. on April 18

The Carrier Dome Box Office reached out to the affected students, saying that the error ocurred "due to an error at the Ticketmaster processing center". Students will be able to use the original tickets that were shipped because the barcodes on them will still be active. If students are unable to get their original tickets, the Box Office will re-print them. This will, in turn, void the barcodes on the original tickets.

Per the email, this error only applied to floor tickets for Block Party.

Update at 10:15 p.m. on April 17

Syracuse University students have been left confused after discovering that their Block Party tickets were mistakenly shipped to their home addresses.

In the ticket purchasing process, the only option to pick up tickets was Will Call -- which means picking up the tickets at the Carrier Dome -- as it has been in years past. However, a Ticketmaster customer service representative said the only way the delivery means changed from pick-up to being mailed is if the ticket buyer changed their delivery preferences. But the only option available for receiving Block Party tickets is "Will Call."

However, multiple students have reported that their tickets were sent to their home addresses. Courteney Larocca, a magazine journalism and sociology senior, found out her Block Party tickets got sent to her home in Maryland when her mom texted her Monday evening that her tickets arrived in the mail.

"I was really confused," she said. "What do you mean Block Party tickets came?" She thought it was a mistake until her mom texted her a photo of the tickets. Larocca said she is annoyed with the situation but she hopes that she can pick up her tickets at the Carrier Dome so her mom doesn't have to mail them to Syracuse.

Caitlin Russell, one of University Union's public relations directors, said in an email that UU recently learned about the issue and is working with the Carrier Dome Box Office to resolve the problem. The box office will reach out to affected students, she added.

Rapper Travis Scott is headlining this year's Block Party concert. Electronic act ZHU and English electronic duo AlunaGeorge will join him in the Dome on April 28.
