2015 National Champions!

The first NCAA title for any Syracuse sport since the 2009 men's lacrosse team.

The Syracuse men’s cross country team took home the 2015 National Championship today in Louisville, Kentucky. This is the first NCAA title for SU since 1957.

The Orange entered the race ranked No. 2 in the nation behind only Colorado. The ‘Cuse win was somewhat of an upset, because Colorado was ranked No. 1 all year long and had won every race this season.

Syracuse led the way with 82 points in the victory. Colorado (91pts) took second place, followed by Stanford (151), Oregon (183), and Iona (231). Syracuse placed three runners in the Top-10 to take the crown.

Sophomore Justyn Knight paced the Orange, finishing fourth overall. Teammates Colin Bennie and Martin Hehir came in eighth and ninth overall, respectively. Philo Germano (39th) and Joel Hubbard (47th) rounded out the Syracuse top five. Knight, Bennie, Hehir and Germano earned All-America honors.

The women’s team turned in an impressive performance of their own. They placed 12th overall, which is the second best finish in program history.
